Setting Up the Brother HL-2460 Laser Printer

Unboxing and Assembly

  1. Remove the printer from the box and any protective packaging.
  2. Set up the printer on a flat, stable surface close to a power outlet.
  3. Open the front cover and remove the toner cartridge.
  4. Unwrap the toner cartridge and insert it into the printer.
  5. Close the front cover.
  6. Load paper into the paper tray.

Connecting to the Computer

USB Connection:

  1. Connect the USB cable to the USB port on the printer and to a USB port on your computer.
  2. Turn on the printer.

Network Connection:

  1. Connect the Ethernet cable (not included) to the Ethernet port on the printer and to your network router.
  2. Turn on the printer.
  3. Assign an IP address to the printer either through DHCP or manually via the printer’s LCD screen.

Installing Drivers and Software

  1. Insert the installation CD that came with the printer into your computer’s CD drive.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the printer drivers and software.
  3. Select the appropriate connection type: USB or Network.

Printing a Test Page

  1. Open a document on your computer.
  2. Click on “File” and select “Print.”
  3. Choose the Brother HL-2460 printer from the list of available printers.

  5. Click on “Print” to print a test page.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Printer Not Printing

  • Check if the printer is turned on and connected to a power source.

Other Issues

  • Printer Not Responding: Unplug the printer for 30 seconds and plug it back in.
  • Toner Error: Replace the toner cartridge with a genuine Brother cartridge.
  • Drum Unit Error: Contact Brother support as the drum unit may need to be replaced.
