Detailed Guide to Setting Up Your Brother MFC-J220
Step 1: Unpack and Assemble
- Carefully unpack the printer and all its components.
- Remove the protective packaging from the printer and place it on a flat surface.
- Connect the included power cord to the back of the printer and a power outlet.
- Open the scanner bed and remove the orange protective covers. Close the scanner bed.

- Once the installation is complete, click “Finish”.
Step 5: Connect to Wi-Fi (Optional)
Via WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)
- Press the “Wi-Fi” button on the printer.
- Press and hold the “WPS” button on your Wi-Fi router for a few seconds.
- The printer will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network.
Via Direct Wi-Fi Connection
- Press the “Wi-Fi” button on the printer.
- Select “Wi-Fi Direct” from the menu.
- On your computer or device, connect to the Wi-Fi network named “BrotherMFC-J220DIRECT”.
- Enter the password displayed on the printer’s screen.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Printer Not Printing
- Check that the printer is turned on and connected to power.
- Ensure that the ink cartridges are installed correctly.
