Canon BJC-3000 Setup Guide

Connecting the Printer

  1. Remove the printer from the box and unpack it.
  2. Connect the power cord to the printer and a power outlet.
  3. Connect one end of the USB cable to the printer and the other end to an available USB port on your computer.

Installing the Software

  1. Insert the installation CD-ROM into your computer’s CD/DVD drive.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the printer driver and software.
  3. When prompted, select the “Connect to Printer” option.

Loading Paper and Ink

  1. Open the printer’s paper tray.
  2. Load plain paper into the tray, aligning it with the guides.
  3. Close the paper tray.
  4. Open the printer’s ink cartridge door.
  5. Remove the new ink cartridges from their packaging.
  6. Insert the black cartridge into the black slot and the color cartridge into the color slot.
  7. Close the ink cartridge door.

Aligning the Print Head

  1. Ensure there is paper loaded in the printer.
  2. Press the “Setup” button on the printer.
  3. Use the arrow keys to navigate to “Maintenance” and press “OK”.
  4. Select “Align Print Head” and press “OK”.
  5. The printer will print a test pattern.
  6. Scan the test pattern using the Handheld Scanner.
  7. Press the “OK” button to complete the alignment.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Printer Not Printing:

  • Check that the printer is turned on and connected to the computer.
  • Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected at both ends.
  • Restart the printer and computer.
  • Reinstall the printer driver.

Print Quality Issues:

  • Check the ink levels and replace any empty cartridges.
  • Clean the print head using the cleaning utility in the printer software.
  • Adjust the print quality settings in the printer driver.

Paper Feed Issues:

  • Ensure that the paper is loaded correctly and aligns with the guides.
  • Check for any paper jams inside the printer.
  • Adjust the paper type setting in the printer driver.

Error Messages:

  • “Paper Jam”: Check for any obstructions in the paper path and clear the jam.
  • “Out of Paper”: Load paper into the printer.
  • “Ink Cartridge Not Recognized”: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and replace any empty cartridges.
  • “Print Head Alignment Error”: Realign the print head as described above.

Other Issues:

  • If the printer is making noise, check for any loose parts or obstructions.
  • If the printer is overheated, let it cool down before continuing to print.
  • If all else fails, contact Canon customer support for assistance.
