How to Set Up the Epson L120 Printer


  • Epson L120 printer
  • Ink bottles (black, cyan, magenta, yellow)
  • Power cable
  • USB cable (for wired connection)
  • Ethernet cable (for wireless connection, optional)

Step 1: Unpack and Install the Printer

  1. Remove the printer from the box and remove all packing materials.
  2. Lift the scanner lid and remove the protective blue tape.
  3. Open the top of the printer and insert the four ink bottles into the corresponding slots.
  4. Close the printer lid and turn it on.

Step 2: Connect the Printer

You can connect the printer via USB or Ethernet:


  1. Insert one end of the USB cable into the back of the printer.

Ethernet (Optional):

  1. Insert one end of the Ethernet cable into the back of the printer.
  2. Insert the other end of the cable into an Ethernet port on your router or modem.

Step 3: Install the Printer Software

  1. Insert the installation CD into your computer.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the printer software.
  3. Select your connection method (USB or Ethernet) and complete the setup process.

Step 4: Align the Printer Heads

  1. Print an alignment page from the printer’s control panel.
  2. Scan the printed page using the scanner lid.
  3. The printer will automatically align the print heads.

Step 5: Test the Printer

  1. Print a test page from the printer’s control panel.
  2. Ensure that the print quality is satisfactory.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Printer Not Printing

  • Check that the printer is turned on and connected to your computer.
  • Verify that the ink tanks are full.
  • Check if the print head is clogged. Clean it using the supplied cleaning cartridge.
  • Ensure that the paper size and type are set correctly in the printer software.

Print Quality Issues

  • Check for smudges or streaks on the printed page. This could indicate a clogged print head or low ink levels.
  • Verify that the paper type is appropriate for the desired print quality.
  • Adjust the print settings in the printer software to improve quality.

Connection Problems

  • Ensure that the USB or Ethernet cable is firmly connected on both ends.
  • If using USB, try a different USB port on your computer.
  • For Ethernet connections, check if your router or modem is functioning properly.

Ink Levels Low

  • When an ink tank is low, a warning message will appear on the printer’s control panel.
  • Replace the empty ink tank with a new one of the same color.
  • Reset the ink level counter from the printer’s control panel.

Other Issues

  • If the printer is not responding, turn it off and on again.
  • If a paper jam occurs, carefully remove the jammed paper without tearing it.
