Setting Up the HP DeskJet 6540xi Color Inkjet Printer
Materials Required:
- HP DeskJet 6540xi Color Inkjet Printer
- HP 61 or 61XL ink cartridges (black, cyan, magenta, yellow)
- Power cord
- USB cable (optional)
Step 1: Unpack and Prepare the Printer
- Remove the printer from the box and any protective packaging.
- Lift the scanner lid and remove the orange tape from the ink cartridge carriage.
- Lower the scanner lid.

- Lift the input tray and insert your paper into the tray.
- Adjust the paper width and length guides to fit your paper size.
Step 8: Print a Test Page
- From the printer control panel, navigate to “Setup” and then “Reports.”
- Select “Printer Status Report.”
- The printer will print a test page to confirm that it is functioning properly.
