Setting Up the HP OfficeJet Pro 7681 All-in-One Printer

Materials:

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 7681 printer
  • Power cord
  • USB cable (optional)
  • Paper
  • Ink cartridges (included)

Step 1: Unbox the Printer

  • Remove all packaging materials, including the plastic wrap and styrofoam.
  • Remove the top and bottom packing pieces inside the printer.

Step 2: Install the Ink Cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access door and remove any orange protective tape.
  • Unpack the ink cartridges and remove the plastic protectors.
  • Insert the cartridges into their designated slots, matching the color labels.

Step 3: Connect the Power

  • Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
  • Connect the other end to a grounded power outlet.

Step 4: Connect to Your Computer (Optional)

USB Connection:

  • Connect one end of the USB cable to the printer.
  • Connect the other end to an available USB port on your computer.

Wi-Fi Connection:

  • Turn on the printer and open the network settings.
  • Choose your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.

Step 5: Load Paper

  • Open the output tray and pull out the extension bar.

  • If the test page prints correctly, the printer is set up successfully.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Printer Not Powering On:

  • Check that the power cord is plugged in properly.
  • Ensure that the power outlet is working.
  • Try resetting the printer by unplugging it for a few seconds and then plugging it back in.

Printer Not Printing:

  • Check that the ink cartridges are installed correctly.
  • Make sure there is paper loaded in the tray.
  • Check if the paper is compatible with the printer.
  • Try restarting the print job.

Printer Not Connecting to Wi-Fi:

  • Verify that the Wi-Fi network is active and accessible.
  • Ensure that the printer is within range of the Wi-Fi router.
  • Check that the Wi-Fi password is correct.
  • Reset the printer’s network settings and try connecting again.

Printer Jams:

  • Open the printer access door and carefully remove any paper that is jammed.
  • Close the access door and try printing again.

Low Ink:

  • Replace the cartridges with new ones.
  • If the ink level is low but not empty, you can still print until the cartridge is completely out.
