Unboxing and Assembly

  1. Remove all exterior packaging.
  2. Lift the printer out of the box and place it on a sturdy surface.
  3. Remove the front and rear protective covers.
  4. Unpack the toner cartridges and imaging drum.

Toner and Imaging Drum Installation

  1. Open the front door of the printer.
  2. Grasp the toner cartridge handle and gently rock it back and forth to loosen it.
  3. Pull the toner cartridge straight out of the printer.
  4. Pull the imaging drum unit out of the printer.
  5. Remove the new toner cartridge from its packaging.
  6. Remove the protective cover from the new imaging drum unit.
  7. Insert the new imaging drum unit into the printer.
  8. Slide the new toner cartridge into the printer until it clicks into place.
  9. Close the front door of the printer.

Network Connection

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the back of the printer and to your network.
  2. Turn on the printer.
  3. Wait for the printer to establish a network connection, indicated by a solid green light next to the Ethernet port.

Software Installation

  1. Insert the software CD into your computer’s DVD drive.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the HP Print and Scan Doctor software.
  3. Click on “Connect a new printer” and select your printer from the list.
  4. Click on “Install” and follow the prompts to complete the software installation.
